Volkswagen ID.Buzz: The Electric Microbus is Almost Here

Anticipation reaches a new all-time high for the upcoming electric microbus van, the Volkswagen ID.Buzz. The autonomous prototype mule (the production version) roamed the streets in October 2021. But now, there is an even better look at the beauty in all its splendor. The video revealed a vibrantly camouflaged ID.Buzz thanks to a video premiere of the Europe-bound ID.5 crossover SUV.
A Glimpse of the Upcoming Volkswagen ID.Buzz
The preview was available at approximately 10:15, debuting a colorful camouflage wrap. The Buzz is assembled as the video captures the microbus’s blunt front end, tall side, and enormous front glass display.
Some automotive features, such as headlights, door handles, and side mirrors, are in limbo. But there is always a thin line between imagination and reality and the Volkswagen ID.Buzz dances finely in between.
“For me, the I.D. BUZZ concept is the most beautiful and most exciting electric car in the world. Our goal is clear: we want to make the fully electric, fully connected car a bestseller around the world. The iconic car of the electric age must be a Volkswagen.”
-Dr. Herbert Diess, Chairman of the Board of Management for the Volkswagen brand
Volkswagen also mentioned that more information would trickle down by the beginning of 2022.
Trims and Availability of the 2024 ID.Buzz
Americans will need to wait a little longer before the Buzz makes its way over. The manufacturer confirmed that the ID.Buzz would not make it to the United States until sometime in 2023. However, it is okay because Volkswagen is saving the best for last.

Passenger Van
The 2024 ID.Buzz arrives in the U.S. as a long-wheelbase passenger van. However, the European market will receive other variations of the Buzz including a cargo van without windows.
Possible Powertrain Options
As speculation grows, the U.S.-bound ID.Buzz will likely offer a base rear-wheel-drive single-motor powertrain, generating 200 horsepower. The upgraded iteration will probably host an all-wheel-drive dual-motor setup and provide 300 horsepower.
There is limited information on range estimates now, but many devotees feel comfortable expressing that the ID.Buzz will offer a larger battery pack than the more compact ID.4 SUV. The ID.4 boasts an estimated range of 260 miles.
Expect more exciting news surrounding the 2024 ID.Buzz within the next few months.
