Volkswagen Extends Basecamp Accessory Lineup

Volkswagen has extended its Basecamp accessories collection to the Atlas Cross Sport SUV. The German already has this package available to the regular Atlas. Nonetheless, VW also offers the accessories as individual items, a testament to its dedication to delivering top-quality customization choices for all its enthusiasts.
The Basecamp package adds the same upgrades to both Atlas models. The new package has several features that improve the vehicle’s appearance and functionality, including a two-tone black-and-silver front valance, matte black fender flares with integrated splash guards, a satin silver rear valance, and satin silver side door rocker panels. Air Design, a manufacturer known for its high-quality products, provides the package’s body kit. Additionally, the German automaker offers a Basecamp badge that can be mounted on the front quarter-panel for the Atlas model. Regrettably, this badge is unavailable for the Atlas Cross Sport, nor is it sold separately.
Notably, Volkswagen does not recommend the styling package for the Atlas R-Line trims and Peak Edition models. The accessory lineup is intended for trims that come with a trailer hitch. However, the Basecamp upgrade offers exceptional features for those who own an Atlas or {Cross Sport. The customizable additions include 17-inch Traverse MX wheels from fifteen52 wrapped in all-terrain tires. Furthermore, the wheels are available in frosted glass and radiant silver. The German automaker allows customers to make their vehicle stand out (shout out to all the “his and hers” enthusiasts).
The 2019 Atlas Basecamp concept inspired Volkswagen’s Basecamp Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport. The 2019 concept featured fifteen52-designed Traverse MX wheels and a custom body kit from Air Design. Additionally, the accessories included a lift kit that raised its height by about 1.5 inches with H&R springs. Enthusiasts can now add the lift kit and other Basecamp package features to their Atlas or Atlas Cross Sport.
In May 2024, Volkswagen announced the 2024 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport pricing. The standard SUV holds a starting price of $39,075*, while the sportier version is priced at $38,065* (which includes the destination charge of $1,350). The prices have increased compared to the 2023 model due to the addition of more standard equipment, such as ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel, as well as the use of premium materials for the interior.
The Volkswagen Atlas is available in six trims, while the Atlas Cross Sport comes in five. Both SUVs offer a top-tier R-Line trim that costs over $50,000. Volkswagen made significant changes under the hood for the 2024 model year by replacing the VR6 engine with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that is turbocharged and generates 269 horsepower.
