VW Golf Plug-In Hybrid’s 62-mile Electric Range
The electric variants of the German hatchback are equipped to receive high-powered charging from a DC fast charger with a maximum capacity of 50 kW. This feature ensures that the vehicle can quickly recharge its battery and remain on the road for extended periods without the need for frequent stops.
VW Golf Plug-In Hybrid
The Volkswagen Golf has received a facelift, and it’s better than ever before! The hatchback’s plug-in hybrid versions, namely the eHybrid and GTE, have received significant improvements. The GTE is a sort of electrified version of the iconic GTI, while the eHybrid is a more eco-friendly version of the Golf. Both vehicles are powered by a 1.5-liter TSI eco2 gasoline engine, which works in tandem with an electric motor that gets its juice from a 19.7-kilowatt-hour battery pack. According to Volkswagen, both versions can drive for up to 62 miles on electricity alone and up to 620 miles in hybrid mode. That’s pretty impressive!
The battery can be charged from an AC source at up to 11 kilowatts or from a DC fast charger at speeds up to 50 kW. So, if consumers are in a hurry and need to charge their vehicles quickly, the DC fast charger is the way to go. With this setup, drivers can recharge their batteries in no time.
The eHybrid makes a combined 201 horsepower, while the GTE ups the figure to a more hot hatch-like 268 hp. In fact, the GTE can produce even more horsepower than the GTI, making it an excellent option for those who want a sportier version of the Golf—both the eHybrid and GTE transfer power to the wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
Inside, the Golf has received a brand new infotainment system that runs on VW’s fourth-generation MIB4 system. It’s simpler to operate than its predecessor and features new graphics and a new menu structure. Two screen sizes are available for all the new Golf versions, either a 10.4-inch touchscreen or a 12.9-inch unit as the top-of-the-line option. Beneath the screen, has illuminated touch sliders for temperature and volume control. This makes it easy to adjust the music’s temperature and volume without taking the driver’s eyes off the road.
Outside, the facelifted Volkswagen Golf looks just as impressive as it feels. The car features newly designed LED headlights, slightly revised LED taillights, and a new front bumper. Performance headlights will be available as part of a package which includes a horizontal LED light strip in the radiator grille and an illuminated VW badge. With these features, the Golf looks sleek and stylish and is sure to turn heads wherever it goes.
