Verizon or T-Mobile? Inside the Volkswagen Car-Net

Volkswagen of America announced its debut of the Carrier of Choice through wireless providers Verizon and T-Mobile, at the end of September. Possibilities are sensational when it supports the adjustability to decide from multiple service providers.     

Volkswagen drivers and passengers can put away cell phones; mobile entertainment is a thing of the past. 

When customers purchase unlimited data via Verizon or T-Mobile, Car-Net Hotspot serves as in-vehicle entertainment. 

Adding the car to an existing T-Mobile or Verizon account is relatively simple. Just visit carnet.vw.com or the Car-Net mobile app to add the mobile provider, verify the account, and pair within minutes.

The Volkswagen Car-Net originally premiered in 2014 models, allowing Volkswagen owners to connect with their vehicles. But the 2020 model is next-level assimilation; transformed mobile app, an abundance of no-charge services (for five years with a large majority of cars), and options for new subscriptions. 

The array of connected car features consists of remote access, parking information, and so much more; with just the touch of a finger, whether iPhone or Android. 

Carrier of Choice implements a market catered to the driver or passengers. Volkswagen Car-Net streams to phones, tablets, or any other handheld device. In addition, Car-Net Hotspot proffers internet access to four connected devices synchronously, at 4G LTE-speed.  

Verizon Wireless or T-Mobile customers can connect through an existing plan. Service not provided by T-Mobile or Verizon Wireless? No problem! The customer can establish an unlimited plan for $20 a month (excluding taxes and fees).  

Select vehicles on the 2021 model come equipped with the MIB3, offering additional infotainment features. For $49 for the year, the Plus NAV subscription provides drivers with live traffic updates. For $8 a year, Plus Online Radio provides listeners with over 30,000 global radio stations. There’s also a Plus Speech subscription for $9 a year that permits drivers to use natural language as a convenience for the safe custody of the phone, media, and navigational features.  

The Carrier of Choice program’s accessibility commences in late September.
