New Volkswagen Jetta GLI Receives GTI Upgrades
Volkswagen offers practical and comfortable vehicles at affordable prices when it comes to family sedans while delivering the perfect balance of handling and sporty feel on the higher trims. According to Volkswagen, the Jetta GLI is due for upgrades that include an increase in horsepower and some exterior enhancements. Improving the Jetta Platform
With the first generation Jetta releasing back in 1979, the Jetta brings to the table a 42-year track record of being one of the most successful sedan offerings in Volkswagen’s lineup. For the 2022 model year, a new Volkswagen GLI is undergoing testing leading many Volkswagen enthusiasts to believe it is receiving a boost in engine performance and modifications to the exterior. The upgrades will be spread out on both the S trim and Autobahn trim levels keeping a complete balance of updates throughout the whole lineup. For consumers in the market for a new Volkswagen sedan, this is good news because a more recent version of the Jetta GLI will be available soon.
Increasing the Horsepower
Estimates suggest the GLI will receive a boost in horsepower from its base power output of 228hp and 258 lb-ft of torque to 241hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. Other upgrades such as a revised suspension, a new Vehicle Dynamics Manager, and an updated limited-slip differential are likely along with the increase in horsepower. This means the Volkswagen Jetta GLI will be the most potent and capable family sedan in Volkswagen’s lineup.
Exterior Design Enhancements
Some of the exterior enhancements on the new Jetta GLI are new front and rear diffusers with a honeycomb pattern taking inspiration from the Golf GTI. The rear of the GLI will have a new dual-exhaust system adding to the sporty factor of the vehicle and elevating the whole exterior rear design. The 2022 Jetta GLI is going to debut later this year and going on sale sometime in 2022.
