Volkswagen to Unveil Powerful and Modernized 2025 Golf R Soon

In a few days (2024), Volkswagen introduced the 2025 Golf GTI, refining its design, boosting performance, and upgrading the interior with a 12.9-inch touchscreen. Alongside this, Volkswagen teased a refreshed Golf R, showcasing a camouflaged prototype. The automaker has confirmed that the Golf R will debut on June 26, 2024.

The teaser image for the reveal doesn’t disclose much but highlights the illuminated headlights linked by an LED light bar and a glowing Volkswagen emblem. These headlights are similar to the updated ones on the new GTI, and earlier photos also showcased restyled taillights. The Golf R’s design includes larger front bumper openings for engine cooling and a rear spoiler, giving it a more aggressive look.

Inside, the Golf R may emulate the GTI’s updates, featuring the new touchscreen, an improved infotainment system, and physical buttons on the steering wheel, replacing the previous touch-sensitive controls. Performance-wise, the Golf R may see a power increase, with its turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine potentially surpassing the current 315 horsepower mark.

Unfortunately, Volkswagen has phased out the manual transmission after the 2024 model year, meaning the 2025 Golf R will be available only with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
