This month (September 2022) marks the beginning of significant expansion for the ingenious German automakers. The Porsche Chief Executive, Oliver Blume, assumed his new role as the new Volkswagen CEO. At the same time, former VW CEO Herber Diess steps down, but not before iterating that the German automaker will continue to expand its efforts toward sustainability. Blume expressed that the automaker would need to maintain the correct rhythm necessary to meet its EV goals while ensuring that the increased pace doesn’t cost VW an arm and a leg in the process.

“I am a fan of e-mobility and I stand by this path … We will keep the current pace and, where possible, increase it.”

Recent studies revealed that the “Das Auto” automaker would overpower Tesla for its EV sales within the next 18 months. So far, Volkswagen has sold 800,000 vehicles in 2022, with a projection of 1.3-million by 2023. Nevertheless, the German automaker will unquestionably narrow the gap between its EV sales and Tesla’s. Moreover, VW estimates an annual growth of 50 percent for the number of vehicles sold in 2022.

Tesla anticipates that it will sell 1.5-million electric vehicles this year (2022), which is twice as many vehicles as Volkswagen. So if Tesla maintains this level of growth for 2023, then the automaker should anticipate a sell surging beyond 2 million cars. In addition, Tesla constructed several factories worldwide with no intentions of slowing down factory construction anytime soon. However, former VW CEO Herbert Diess expressed that the building of so many new factories will negatively impact Tesla over time

Volkswagen is better than a large majority of manufacturers, especially when it pertains to the German automaker’s business model towards sustainability. Don’t believe us? Well, don’t stress the proof is in the pudding. For instance, the manufacturer has sold many EV vehicles, but it also generates a profit by selling high volumes of electric cars. Although deliberation is out on whether Volkswagen will outperform Tesla, the German automaker’s ingenuity and experience prove more mature than the latter
