April 28th, 2021 by

The cat’s out of the bag, Volkswagen of America announced pricing for the all-new 2022 Taos compact crossover. Starting at $22,995 (plus destination fee), the Taos is an affordable, spacious, and engaging new offering from Volkswagen for the small SUV market. Volkswagen is offering the Taos in three trim levels, each one with available front-wheel or 4Motion all-wheel-drive, and powered by an energy-efficient 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.

Front-wheel-drive models are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while 4Motion models feature a 7-speed DSG® dual-clutch automatic transmission. Designed to land in the heart of the booming compact SUV segment, the 2022 Taos features a clean and youthful design closely associated with other Volkswagen SUVs. A standard LED light signature is borrowed from the Atlas Cross Sport model, while the SEL trim of the Taos comes with an illuminated LED light bar that mimics the style of the all-new ID.4 electric SUV. Buyers can choose from numerous wheel choices, including standard 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels to two different 18-inch wheel options in either machined or black finish, and larger 19-inch wheels with eight available shades for personalization.

With a roomy cabin measuring 99.5 cubic feet, the 2022 Taos provides up to 28.1 cubic feet of cargo room behind the second-row seats, and 66.3 cubic feet with the second-row folded down. Not only does the spacious cabin offer generous cargo space, but it also offers a comfortable ride for passengers with 37.9 inches of legroom in the rear and 40.1 inches in the front.  Other available features of the 2022 Taos also include automatic headlights, cloth upholstery, leatherette seating surfaces, heated and ventilated front seats, a premium BeatsAudio sound system with eight speakers, push-button start, and dual-zone Climatronic climate control. The Taos also comes equipped with the latest Volkswagen connectivity and infotainment technology.

Volkswagen equipped the 2022 Taos with its Digital Cockpit instrument cluster, as well as the Volkswagen CAr-Net with in-car Wi-Fi capability (requires Volkswagen Data Plan subscription). The infotainment system offers wireless charging, SiriusXM w/ 360L (three-month all-access trial included), available navigation, voice control, and wireless App-Connect for compatible devices. When it comes to driver assistance technology features, Volkswagen doesn’t skimp on the extras thanks to Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Braking, Active Blind Spot Monitor, Lane Keeping System, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, High Beam Control, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist. The 2022 Volkswagen Taos arrives in dealers in June (2021).
