The Volkswagen ID.7 Has Some Features Worth Adoration
As we move forward, it’s becoming more and more evident that the key to unlocking the potential of the automotive industry lies in electrification. Thanks to advances in battery technology and increased environmental regulations, it’s no shocker that most new car models are electric. Volkswagen, an ingenious automaker, whose been quick to embrace this transformation, introducing its ID.Family back in 2016. The name signifies “intelligent design,” “identity,” and “iconic design,” and the cars released so far have genuinely embodied these values.
Now it’s time for VW’s new electric car, the ID.7. Unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2022, this revolutionary sedan will impact the market in 2024. Underneath the Volkswagen sedan is a single electric motor producing 282 horsepower propelling the EV from 0 to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds. In addition, the ID.7 comes in two battery sizes: a 77 kWh battery with up to 382 miles of range and an 86 kWh battery with an impressive 435 miles on a single charge, both as per the WLTP cycle. Moreover, the Volkswagen sedan has many outstanding features that set it apart from other electric cars; here’s a glimpse at a few.Â
A Sedan with the Capacity of a HatchbackÂ
Comfort is essential to every car ride, and having a spacious vehicle is crucial. The VW ID.7 considers this with its innovative design that blends the sedan with hatchback hospitality, providing ample cargo space. The trunk capacity of the car is officially rated at 18.3 cubic feet, but it expands to 47.8 cubic feet once the rear seats are folded. Moreover, the EV sedan boasts a roomy cabin that can comfortably accommodate up to five passengers, thanks to its high roof that provides plenty of headspace. With a total length of 195.3 inches and a wheelbase of 116.8 inches, the interior of the ID.7 is the most spacious part of the car to ensure maximum passenger capacity.
The Future is Here, Thanks to the Volkswagen ID.7’s High-Tech Infotainment SystemÂ
Nowadays, many EVs have adopted the one-screen-controls-everything approach that Tesla made famous. The VW ID.7 has also adopted this method, incorporating all the controls, including the air conditioning, into a 15-inch screen in the center dashboard. However, some critics have pointed out that this approach can be too complex and distracting, so it had some drawbacks. However, the ingenious automaker has improved the ID.7’s infotainment system to address these concerns. For example, the touch-sensitive sliders that regulate the volume and temperature now come with backlighting to make them easier to see at night. Furthermore, the impending VW EV features a heads-up display that projects on the windshield and a traditional digital gauge display.
The Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 6 Don’t Stand a ChanceÂ
The electric sedan segment is becoming more competitive with every passing day. Tesla has dominated this space with its Model 3, but they now face tough competition from the Hyundai Ioniq 6 and the future Volkswagen ID.7. The base versions of the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 6 are priced below $45,000 and deliver 300 miles of range, which the ID.7 can match. However, the VW ID.7 surpasses both EVs in terms of space, and the release of its long-range model could potentially destroy them in range.
