The Volkswagen ID.3 is Looking Forward to 2023

Not too long ago, Volkswagen implied it wanted to release an electric variation of the Golf R. The subtle implication of an electric Golf R came from unveiling the ID.X. The VW ID.X is a conceptual hot hatch that doesn’t have a combustible engine. Fast forward a couple of months, and our favorite automakers from Wolfsburg declared that a production model would come to light. However, Volkswagen never gave a specific date for when enthusiasts can expect to meet the production model. Well, Sunrise Volkswagen has patiently waited, and finally, we now have an idea of when the ID.3 GTX will brush across our fingertips. 

In Austria, there was a local launch for the Volkswagen ID.5, and Martin Hube (VW’s Product Line Spokesperson) announced that the GTX would be a variation of the refined ID.3. Many VW enthusiasts speculated that the fiery hatchback would come to light in early 2022. However, the ‘Das Auto’ automaker won’t reveal the mid-cycle refresh for the ID.3 until 2023. When the ID.3 does make its grand debut, it will join the likes of the ID.4 GTX and ID.5 GTX. The GTX trio will serve as Volkswagen’s electric performance-oriented models.

Like the SUVs badged ‘GTX’ the new ID.3 GTX will deliver all-wheel drive with the adoption of a front-mounted electric motor. Yet the ID.X concept bears a lively setup with 329 horsepower. However, the ‘Das Auto’ automaker stated that the production vehicle wouldn’t be as potent as the concept. Consider this, the ID.5 GTX propels to 62 mph in less than seven seconds. The ID.3 GTX may jolt to 62 mph in under six seconds since it will be lighter.
