The 2024 Volkswagen Passat Will Compete in A Whole New Segment
Move over Subaru, there’s a new wagon master in town, and it will come in the form of German ingenuity. The ninth-generation Passat will make its world premiere this fall (2023), and some exciting changes are in store! The midsize family car will debut as a wagon, eager to turn some heads. Volkswagen is known for its innovative designs, and it looks like the Passat will be one of the first VW-badged cars to ride on the MQB Evo platform. However, that’s not all – the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan will share most of the hardware with the Passat. Exciting times are ahead for Volkswagen fans!
The next-generation model boasts an increased footprint, translating to an additional 50 mm or 1.9 in of legroom. With the rear seats in place, cargo capacity jumps from 40 liters or 1.4 cubic feet to 690 liters or 24.3 cu ft. However, fold the bench, and the volume increases by 140 liters 4.9 or cu ft compared to the old Passat wagon, providing fans with a total of 1,920 liters or 67.8 cu ft of space. So we’re clear the cargo volume is calculated by loading items up to the height of the rear seat backrest. So, pack up all those essentials without worrying about space constraints
The forthcoming VW Tiguan and next-gen Passat will share similar features, such as a fully digital instrument cluster and a large infotainment screen. It’s great to have all that technology at your fingertips while driving. Plus, the optional head-up display is a neat feature that makes staying informed on the road even more manageable.Â
The Passat and Tiguan will share high-tech features like the digital instrument cluster, infotainment screen, and different powertrain options, including hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. Volkswagen continues accelerating in sustainable technology and DC charging and propels that ferocity with some electric assistance.
It’s fascinating to consider the impending Volkswagen Passat will be a wagon equipped with optional matrix LED headlights that can illuminate the road ahead by up to 500 meters. Even the Tiguan gets to inherit some fancy new HD matrix headlight technology. The sleek LED light bar connecting the taillights of the Passat is also a great addition that we’re looking forward to seeing in action!
The upcoming Passat and Skoda Superb will share the same mechanical components. The Skoda Superb will also be available in sedan and wagon body styles, while the Passat will only be available as a wagon. The three Volkswagen vehicles will be assembled in Bratislava, Slovakia.Â
