The German engineers released pricing for the all-electric 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 for the U.S. The new VW ID.4 will cost $37,495* (which excludes taxes and travel fees). Additionally, the all-electric crossover will come to life at Volkswagen’s Chattanooga, Tennessee, plant. Moreover, since the German automakers elected in-country production for the electric SUV, the opportunity allows VW fans to acquire a more reasonably priced vehicle.

At the capital, the Senate Democrats deliberate on a new reconciliation package even though the existing federal EV tax credit rests at $7,500. However, if the reconciliation package attains a renewal, the Volkswagen ID. 4’s price may drop even more.

The ID.4 is an electric flagship for the German automakers. As a matter of fact, the VW ID.4 is one of the most popular EV SUVs, with 190,000 units delivered since its debut in 2021. Furthermore, Volkswagen CEO Hebert Diess revealed that the automaker sold out of its EVs for the European and North American markets for the 2022 model year

Since VW restricted production of the electric crossover to the US, the stateside assemblage would ensure the electric vehicle maintained reasonable pricing. When the electric crossover debuted in Germany last year (2021), the base or Pro model held an MSRP of $41,230*. So it is remarkable to witness the German automaker reach its stateside goal, a starting price of $35,000 or $27,500 (which may happen with the Senate debate surrounding the federal tax credit).

Nevertheless, Volkswagen’s more costly electric crossover mirrors the price of production everywhere in the world because production has risen tremendously since its initial pricing four years ago (2018). Moreover, raw materials such as cobalt, nickel, and lithium, essential to electric batteries, cost on average $8,255 per vehicle.

What’s New for the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4?

For the 2023 model year, the VW ID.4 will arrive to enthusiasts in early October 2022. In addition to the delivery date, the electric crossover welcomes a few warm refinements. For instance, the ID.4 is available in three trim levels: Pro (the Base), S, and S Plus. Furthermore, enthusiasts can choose the 62 kWh and 82 kWh batteries with all-wheel or rear-wheel drive.

The Volkswagen ID.4 Pro features the new 62 kWh battery for an estimated MPGe of 208 miles. Even though the German engineer’s electric crossover reveals a lesser range mileage than the Chevy Bolt EUV, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and Nissan Ariya, which deliver 250 to 300 miles of range, those electric vehicles’ retail prices exceed $40,000. Therefore the new price point seems sufficient because of the ID. 4’s mileage.

Volkswagen appears dedicated to its 2020 declaration of the electric SUV with its high-volume, mass-market vehicle eager to please millions and not just millionaires.
