The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas VS 2022 Mazda CX-9
The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas is an SUV built with the average height person in mind. There’s ample room for taller drivers, lots of interior space, and various powertrains options. At the same time, the 2022 Mazda CX-9 is why we mentioned the Atlas’s spacious accommodations. The CX-9 is a three-row crossover, but the third row presents a lot of limitations. In addition to improper capacity in the rear, cargo space is tiny. Let’s take a closer look at how the two SUVs compare.
2022 Volkswagen Atlas
The Volkswagen Atlas carries plenty of customization options, leaving no Atlas lover limited in selecting their perfect home away from home. In addition, there are a few passenger configurations, such as the six-passenger-style featuring a captain’s chair in the second row or the bench seat in the second row to accommodate seven.
The new Atlas recently welcomed a refreshed front and rear styling that promotes a distinguishable appeal. The Volkswagen SUV also gained an additional three inches in length, which leaves room for every passenger throughout the interior.
Standard features for the Atlas include a forward-collision warning system, automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring. Customization is an understatement as enthusiasts have the option of all-wheel-drive instead of the standard front-wheel drive.
When the open road calls, the Atlas isn’t afraid to answer, as comfort welcomes all passengers in addition to an enticing view. It’s no surprise that the Volkswagen SUV came to fruition with the American market in mind. The interior space is abysmal and intricately thought out in terms of ergonomics.
The Atlas’s base engine is a 235-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder. Although the engine alludes as “small” to the untrained eye, the Atlas harbors a robust low-end torque with smart gearing, and that makes for a thrilling time when it’s time to press the gas. Then, of course, there’s also the option at the 276-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine for that power kick.
2022 Mazda CX-9
The all-new Mazda CX-9 features the second-generation strongest features to date. The new CX-9 also features a standard all-wheel-drive for every trim plus the all-new Touring Plus trim.
The CX-9 receives its first limitation with only one engine option. The CX-9 proffers a 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that yields 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission with only one powertrain, standard all-wheel drive.
It’s easy to fall in love with the CX-9’s sharp design. However, we run across another limitation, the Mazda SUVs’ tight third row and puny cargo space. The cargo space is limited to 14.4 cubic feet at the rear of the third row.
Standard safety features for the CX-9 include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning.
The Perfect SUV
The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas is comfortable with a handsome physique eager to accommodate six or seven passengers with plenty of customization options. At the same time, the 2022 Mazda CX-9 should try the next go-round again.
