ID. Buzz GTX Performance Trim is Confirmed!

Volkswagen has officially confirmed the ID. Buzz will be receiving a GTX Performance trim as well as mentioning that every ID. series from the ID.3 hatchback to the ID. Buzz will be receiving this as well. This is something that will add appeal to those that enjoy the more sporty sides of vehicles that know and love Volkswagen as well as the vehicles they have to offer. It also gives Volkswagen the opportunity to create sporty Electric Vehicles with the beloved personalities and characteristics people have come to know and expect of the company.
The GTX Models
As mentioned before, two of the future models heading to Volkswagen will be getting the GTX treatment: the ID.3 and the ID. Buzz. Volkswagen had already presented an ID.3-based ID.X concept back in May of 2021, with executives hinting at a production-ready model coming sometime in 2023, the ID. Buzz’s GTX model is a pleasant surprise to everyone! This surprise is in part because Volkswagen never built a Bus GTI or Multivan GTI in the past, not even branding the sportier versions of the Transporter van as a GTI. Volkswagen also mentioned that the updated ID.4 GTX and ID.5GTX “provide a glimpse of the look of other GTX models with new design accents in black and red”, thus showing that the brand plans on delivering its promise to continue expanding into the future.
Inside the ID.4 and ID.5 GTX
The ID.4 GTX and ID.5 GTX will offer two electric motors that provide 295 horsepower (or 220 kilowatts) of system power and 339 lb-ft of torque. Both the 150 kW rear motor and the 80 kW front motor garner their energy from a 77-kWh battery pack that enables a WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure) combined range of 310 miles for the ID.4 GTX and 318 miles for the ID.5 GTX. When it comes to the performance of the vehicles, the Volkswagen ID.4 GTX is capable of going from 0 to 62 mph in just 6.2 seconds, and the ID.5 GTX can handle the same sprint in 6.3 seconds. Both garner a top speed of 112 mph.
