ID.7

On April 17, Volkswagen revealed a new electric sedan that, when it hits the U.S. market in 2024, will feature a top-level trim with a range of more than 300 miles. Volkswagen is one of the several top vehicle manufacturers that are heavily investing resources into electric-powered vehicles. $200 billion in investments that the manufacturer anticipates making between now and 2027 will go toward “electrification and digitalization.” By 2030, the commercial enterprise anticipates that EVs will make up around 80% of income for the VW brand in Europe and approximately 50 percent withinside the U.S.

Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schäfer spoke about the upcoming flagship EV. “With the ID.7 we are taking the next step in our electric offensive. The limousine offers a high level of comfort and long ranges. By 2026, we will offer the widest electric range of all manufacturers in Europe – from the entry-level model for less than 25,000 euros up to the ID.7 as the new top model within the ID. family. Our goal is to achieve an electric car share of 80 percent in Europe by 2030. From 2033, Volkswagen will produce only electric vehicles in Europe.”

The brand-new high-efficiency electric-powered drivetrain assists the ID.7 in obtaining what VW says will be robust range ratings up to 435 miles with the optionally available 86-kilowatt-hour battery on the European WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure) test cycle. The company said that base models will come with a 77 kWh battery, providing an estimated 382 miles of range on the WLTP cycle.

It’s a sizable sedan with an eye-catching hatchback style that increases headroom in the back seats. The ID.7’s interior is a giant high-tech wonderland, as one might expect from an automobile meant to compete with Tesla’s Model 3 in worldwide markets. Beyond the now-standard large touchscreen, all ID.7s will consist of a heads-up display as a piece of standard equipment that projects images into the driver’s field of view in place of the bulk of traditional dashboard gauges. Additionally, a massive auto-dimming sunroof that will be standard on ID.7s when they arrive withinside the United States in 2024 will be voice-activated like many other features.

Production of ID.7s for Europe will start withinside the second half of 2023 at VW’s plant in Emden, Germany; manufacturing of ID.7s for Chinese consumers will begin in China earlier than year-end. ID.7s for North America may also be constructed in Germany and will start arriving at dealers in 2024.
