Five Things To Love About the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas

April 6th, 2021 by

For the 2021 model year, the Volkswagen Atlas SUV got a small facelift and now offers some additional features as well. The three-row SUV is on a winning spree as Cars.com named it its 2020 Family Car of the Year. Atlas fares well when pitted against long-standing rivals such as the Toyota Highlander, Hyundai Palisade, and more. A formidable competitor thanks to its mild refresh, the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas is a progressive family hauler that offers a comfortable ride and plenty of cabin room.  Here are five things we love about the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas.

New Exterior Design

The updates to the exterior of this SUV make for a better-looking Volkswagen Atlas. A minimalist grille, sculpted headlights, and an overall smoothing of the frost fascia refresh the model with sharp, futuristic design lines.

Feel Free to Stretch With This Much Cabin Room

The three-row Atlas has plenty of space for both passengers and cargo, with two available seat configurations, including captain’s chairs or three-seat benches. Adult passengers don’t have to worry as both the second-and third-row are roomy enough to accommodate them, unlike in many other three-row SUVs.

Five-star Riding & Handling

Comfort and handling prowess meet in the middle on the Volkswagen Atlas. Highway speeds are easy to conquer, while the adequate shock system helps absorb bumps in the road. Granted that the Atlas is a large SUV, it does experience some body roll, but the suspension steps up to mitigate curves.

All-Wheel-Drive

Prior to its 2021 refresh, the Volkswagen Atlas came with a front-wheel-drive only when powered with the base engine, a turbocharged 2.0liter four-cylinder. These days, buyers can opt for all-wheel drive with the base engine.

Advanced Safety Features

For 2021, the Volkswagen Atlas features advanced safety features such as Traffic Jam Assist and Lane Assist. Traffic Jam Assist works to slow the vehicle down, as does Adaptive Cruise Control. Lane Assist is lane-centering steering at both low and high speeds and works well even when the LiDar doesn’t detect any road markings for reference.

Family Car of the Year

Cars.com deemed the refreshed Volkswagen Atlas its Family Car of the Year. A large family hauler with a spacious interior, a long list of comfort features, and road trip-worthy road manners, the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas is a solid choice in the three-row SUV segment. Given some of the other clunky options in the three-row SUV segment, the Volkswagen Atlas shines because although it is large, it does not drive like it. In fact, the Atlas is either powered by a standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine or an optional 3.6-liter V6. The 2021 Volkswagen Atlas is a capable family hauler that’s comfortable, quiet, and will take families anywhere in style.
