A Refreshed 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan This Way Comes

May 13th, 2021 by

Since it launched in 2017, the second generation of the Volkswagen Tiguan model has risen to the top as Volkswagen’s best-selling vehicle in America. Due to its continued success, Volkswagen deemed it appropriate to give the 2022 Tiguan a refresh. New styling and added technology blend utility and performance for a compact SUV that’s sure to further fuel its winning streak.

“The 2022 Tiguan represents a strong refresh for one of our best-selling SUVs. It boasts sportier exterior styling, attainable technology, and competitive driver assistance feature deployment,” said Hein Schafer, Senior Vice President for Product Marketing and Strategy.

The exterior of the 2022 Tiguan maintains its iconic look but is sharpened by a revised front end that elevates futuristic design lines. There’s a new distinctive bumper and a broader grille further complemented by daytime running lights and standard LED headlights. Volkswagen also allows buyers to further accent the front end of the 2022 Tiguan with an available illuminated light line that flanks the VW logo. Volkswagen updated its top two trims by incorporating R-line design elements, including side sills and bumpers. Tiguan lettering is newly centered to match Volkswagen family styling and exists harmoniously with the Arteon and all-new Taos. Every trim level receives new wheels for 2022 that range from 17-inch to 20-inch aluminum-alloy designs, while the Tiguan will be available in eight exterior colors, including new catchy hues such as Oryx White and Kings Red Metallic.

On the inside, the 2022 Tiguan features updated technology throughout its cabin. The Volkswagen Digital Cockpit instrument cluster is standard, complete with an 8-inch display (there’s a 10-inch Digital Cockpit Pro option as well for those who wish to upgrade), wireless charging, and wireless App-Connect with compatible devices. Volkswagen also offers its Car-Net with an in-car Wi-Fi feature when buyers subscribe to a data plan. Comfort and convenience-oriented improvements are also part of the Tiguan’s latest refresh, with heated front seats as standard, and heated steering wheel and ventilated front seats as available upgrades.

Volkswagen also spoiled its enthusiasts with the IQ.DRIVE driver assistance suite that’s now standard on all but the entry-level trim. IQ.DRIVE generously includes Front Assist (Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring), Lane Assist (Lane Keeping System), Rear Traffic Alert, Active Side Assist (Blind Spot Monitor), Adaptive Cruise Control, Stop and Go, Travel Assist (a form of semi-autonomous driving assistance), and Emergency Assist (comes in handy as semi-automated vehicle assistance during a medical emergency). Entry-level Tiguan vehicles offer standard Front Assist, Rear Traffic Alert, and Side Assist. Buyers who’d like to round out the entry-level Tiguan’s advanced safety features can add the IQ.DRIVE package. Volkswagen offers other driver assistance technologies as well, including Light Assist (Automated High Beam Control), Dynamic Road Sign Recognition, and Park Assist (Parking Steering Assistant).
